The Project

In this period of discomfort in which physical mobility is discouraged, enthusiastic Professors from Universities all over Europe decided to join together to give an unprecedent opportunity of virtual mobility to their students. DAMR Project offers several recorded lectures in the form of Joint Teaching Units (JTUs) on the topic of antimicrobial resistance. Following these lectures, students of DAMR Partner Universities might ask for the recognition of 1 Euopean Credit Transfer System (ECTS).

The topics explore the past and very recent knowledge on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and the use of Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) from the human, animal, and environmental perspective in a full One Health approach. Through these JTUs, students will understand why antimicrobial resistance is a concern for our health, how bacteria become resistant, which strategies are useful for a prudent use of antimicrobials in both animal and human sectors, the link between AMR and COVID-19 emergencies, and much more.

In parallel, along with JTUs,  students have the great opportunity to be part of the University of the Future by participating to an on-line survey which will collect informations on students awarness and preparatedness on the topics of DAMR.

Beyond activities of education, DAMR foresees research activities aiming at comparing and sharing bioinformatic pipelines for the analysis of sequenced genomes of antimicrobial resistant bacteria.

DAMR was funded under the UNA EUROPA seed funding scheme (funding number SF2002). For more informations regarding UNA EUROPA Universities Alliance please visit UNA EUROPA web site
